About

My name is Jarrod Compton AKA (torQQue). I am 30 years old and married to my lovely wife Amanda. We have two beautiful young boys named Gage and Greyson. I have a master’s degree in computer science and I’m currently working towards a PhD in Information Systems Management. Below are pictures of my two boys and my wife. Gage is the oldest, Greyson is the youngest. Hey, their beautiful and precious to me. They deserved to be shown off, and as you may have seen, I love using them in my Paint Shop Pro projects.

Graphics editing in Paint Shop Pro has recently become an addicting hobby of mine. I created this blog to archive, share, and help others using the knowledge I have gained. I am by no means an expert, nor do I consider myself an advanced graphics editor. I consider myself a dedicated Paint Shop Pro hobbyist. I love learning and sharing, and hopefully the content I share here will be beneficial to someone. If you have any tutorial request feel free to email them to me at paintshopblog@gmail.com. I’ll give them my best shot.

I have and can use Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint Shop Pro, and Gimp. All are quality graphic editing programs. However, I always find myself coming back to Paint Shop Pro because completing similar projects in Gimp or Photoshop seem to take twice as long. Arguably, the toolsets are very similar and many of the plug-ins and brushes are interchangeable, but IMO the user interface for Paint Shop Pro is so much more intuitive and user friendly. For this reason I can get things done quicker. Now you know why Paint Shop Pro holds a special place in my heart.

The only problem with Paint Shop Pro is the lack of tutorials and resources available for it. Paint Shop Pro is a powerful program that is easy to learn and exciting to use. I believe if more resources were available more people would use it. The latest and greatest version of X2 is only $64.99. The program is simply great and it deserves more of a following for that price. My goal with this site is create a wealth of tutorials and resources for Paint Shop Pro users. There are many nice tutorial sites out there that are available for Photoshop, but very few for Paint Shop. Since I have experience using both programs I will use the wealth of Photoshop tutorials as references for creating similar tutorials in Paint Shop Pro. This will be possible because the toolsets in each program are very similar, and as I previously mentioned, the plug-ins and brushes are interchangeable.

If this blog gets a good following of Paint Shop Pro supporters and hobbyist I plan to setup a forum so everyone can discuss and share their knowledge amongst each other. Furthermore, I would like to setup a gallery to host Paint Shop Pro designs, and possibly even have weekly design contests for prizes. If this something you would like to see and would use, please feel free to send me an email paintshopblog@gmail.com.

If you would like to learn more about my family and me then you can visit my wife’s blog at www.contestformoms.com/ablog.htm. She likes to take a lot of photos and blog about our daily life. I could probably even learn few things about myself in there. I know you may be thinking that you don’t want to read about our lives, and that is perfectly okay, however, I must be considerate and share a link to her site. I am also going to mention a couple of her other sites. www. homejobsformoms.biz and www.oursmartbaby.com

While I am at it I will go ahead and mention another site I run called bluegrassrivals.com. It is forum dedicated to High School and College Sports in Kentucky. If you are from Kentucky and/or a Kentucky fan you might find it interesting. The site has been up less than two years and has over 11,000 members almost 600,000 posts. Lots of information in there about Kentucky sports and sports in general. I even started paintshop/photoshop forum over there to showcase and create stuff like sports signature for my members.

Thats about all from me for now. Please add this site to your bookmarks and rss feed and stop by frequently for new Paint Shop Pro content. I will be adding new content only on daily basis. Look forward to your comments and support.

Thanks for visiting,

Jarrod
