This is a repeat of a post to the beginner forum. I apologise for using the extra bandwidth, but I got to thinking this might be the better forum for this.

I am using PSP XI, trying to follow along the clown makeover on the web site. I am running into a problem manipulating the different layers, for instance, if I use the warp brush to try and make the stars over the eyes, or the mouth ellipse conform to the contour of the face, it works well. But then after, when I try to do something else, such as outline the teeth to whiten them, or get a selection from the alpha channel, I get a dialog box that says "The following changes are needed to proceed with your Layer Selection Action." "The Warping Brush Tool must make a final apply." It then returns everything to original shape, undoing what I just did. Works the same way if I do the teeth outline first, for instance, then try to use the warp brush, same message and the work is undone before I can use the next tool.

Any hints on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks.
Hey cz and welcome.

When you get the dialog box "The following changes are needed to proceed with your Layer Selection Action." are you clicking OK or Cancel? Or does it do the same thing when clicking either? What about the green check mark button up by the presets select in the tool bar? Has the warp tool always behaved like this for you?

I have gone through and tried to get PSP to act the way that you describe, but can't. Mine keeps the changes unless I tell it to do away with them. I am running PSPP X2U. I have 8 and X, just not installed. Let us know how it comes along.

Hi,

In this case, the green apply button is grayed out. If I click OK, the previous action (warp, fill, whatever) is undone. If I click cancel, I just stay where I am at. I did find a work around, I click OK, then just as the execution bar starts across the bottom of the screen, I hit escape to abort. Then I am able to continue on to other work and the previous work does not get undone. Strange, maybe something is corrupted on my copy of Paintshop. I have a bad motherboard power connection, I will be changing it out next week. At that time I will reinstall Windows and all software, since my laptop is at snail's pace now. I will report back if the reinstall helps or not.

Thanks for the help.
